Who and What is Vale for AFRICA
Vale4Africa is a community link between the Vale of Glamorgan and Tororo in Uganda. It involves members of both communities working together on a number of projects to enhance well being and social harmony and cohesion both in Uganda and Wales. It is a member of the Wales wide Gold star community projects of which there are around 80. Vale4Africa is open to all and firmly believes that all members of both communities can lend their enthusiasm and expertise to the projects.
Our board members are a wide-ranging and diverse group of people whose common interest is helping others.
What is it trying to achieve?
Formed in 2008 Vale4Africa has worked to establish linkage with groups in Uganda to identify local needs that can be matched to activities here that can foster links. The idea is for ordinary people of the Vale and beyond to make meaningful connections with people in Tororo to improve conditions linked to the Millennium goal, such as health, children, social harmony and the environment.
Vale4Africa have chosen the topics of eyecare, libraries and education as the main projects to make the first firm links with our friends in Tororo. This community link programme aims to produce sustainable partnerships between the Vale and Tororo, in doing this it brings individuals, communities and organisations in the Vale together for a common purpose.
